Rapoport: Nico Collins Rejects 75.5 Million Offer To Texans

Rapoport: Nico Collins signs three-year, $72.5 million agreement with the Texans | ‘The Insiders’
In a segment on “The Insiders,” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport discusses Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins’ three-year, $72.5 million contract deal with the team, as well as the influence on the wide receiver market.

According to several media sources Tuesday, the Houston Texans have extended wide receiver Nico Collins’ contract for three years and $72.75 million, with $52 million guaranteed. The contract, for a maximum of $75 million, prevents the 25-year-old from becoming an unrestricted free agency following the 2024 season. Collins started 10 of his 15 regular-season games in 2023 and made career highs with 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns, surpassing his previous two seasons combined. His yardage and touchdowns were tied for ninth in the league.

The Texans advanced to the playoffs with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, and Collins caught 11 passes for 164 yards and one touchdown in two semifinal games. Collins, who was taken by the Texans in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft from Michigan, is expected to earn $24.2 million per year, according to estimates. That yearly average will place him eighth among all wide receivers, according to Over The Cap.

The Texans traded in the offseason for All-Pro Stefon Diggs, 30, to join a wide receiver room including Collins and Tank Dell, who caught 47 passes for 709 yards and seven TDs in 11 games (eight starts) as a rookie last season.
