I Will Be Leaving” Providence Star Player Announce His Departure….
Jamier Jones, the No. 32 overall recruit in the class of 2025, has committed to Providence. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward from Orlando (Fla.) picked Providence over Ohio State, Houston, South Carolina, LSU, and Kansas.
“I committed to Providence because everything thing they’ve been telling me sounds good and they’re loyal,” Jones stated. “Coach English FaceTimes me before all of my games and tells me what I should do. I am quite sure in my decision.
Jones recently returned from a visit to Providence, which prompted this choice. When recruiting Jones, the staff made it clear that if he committed, he would be able to advance to the next level.
“They want me to come over there and play two or three games as a freshman, averaging 16. They provide me the opportunity to be the one-and-done player I aspire to be, and I know what I need to do.”
The Friars’ success played a significant role in Jones’ decision.”Kim English, a George Mason graduate, turned the entire program around. Once they arrived, the entire program went up. They were a rated club last year, and I believe they can get me to the NBA and keep me there.
Joson Sanon’s commitment to Arizona in late March, with the expectation that he would reclassify from the class of 2025 to 2024, brought an end to what had been a bit of a rollercoaster recruiting process.
Or so it appeared for a few weeks at least. Caleb Love decided to return to Arizona, and things changed quickly. Within minutes after Love declaring his comeback and Sanon saying that he loved it, the scoring machine from New England tweeted on his Instagram that he had switched his commitment from the Wildcats to their hated rivals, Arizona State.
Sanon, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Saxtons River (Vt.) Vermont Academy who is now ranked No. 22 in 2024, raised concerns when he continued to play grassroots basketball with BABC on the Adidas 3SSB circuit in April and early May. There was concern that his commitment might be fragile, and the possibility that Caleb Love would return to Tucson for his Covid Year only fueled those rumors. But a meeting between Lloyd and the family was supposed to have put things back on track.
Things, however, could not have changed more dramatically or fast, as he is now on his way to play for Bobby Hurley in Tempe in one of the quickest hoops commitment flips we’ve ever seen. After making significant ripples a few weeks ago when they got five-star big man Jayden Quaintance, the Sun Devils have made another huge impression on the recruiting road with the quick signing of Sanon.
Adam Finkelstein, 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, delivers this scouting report on Sanon.
Sanon is a high-volume scoring wing with the ability to shoot at numerous levels. His strongest weapon over the years has been his mid-range pull-up game, which incorporates good lift into his release. Over the past year, we’ve watched his range expand to
Sanon is most comfortable as the offensive focal point. He’s a prolific scorer who can put points on the board in bunches, but has a tendency to seek his shots with a high-volume style and needs to grow into a more willing ball-mover who can impact the game in ways beyond scoring.
