Khani Rooths, an incoming freshman, is one of the Top 40 talents in the 2025 recruiting class.

Louisville has declared that Khani Rooths, a Top 50 prospect, has signed. The 6-foot-8 forward is ranked as the 35th best talent overall in the 2025 recruiting class. He committed to Louisville on May 15.

Washington, D.C. native Rooths arrives in Louisville after playing for two seasons at IMG Academy. “Khani is a very good athlete who is very long and large,” remarked Pat Kelsey, head coach of UofL. “He graduated from an esteemed IMG program, which has greatly aided in his growth both on and off the court. There is no denying Khani’s success in the adidas 3SSB Circuit and in high school. At this level, adaptability such as his is highly sought after.

According to UofL’s official statement, Rooths attended Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, Maryland, for his first two prep seasons before transferring for his last two years to the IMG Academy, where he was coached by Sean McAloon.

In his final season, Rooths led the Ascenders to a 20-9 record and the seventh seed in the Chipotle Nationals. In the national quarterfinal, he scored 19 points and pulled down six rebounds while shooting 8 for 11 from the field. Rooths averaged 8.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game in the 2023–24 Nike EYBL season. Throughout the 12 games, his field goal percentage was 44%.

Rooths competed for New World on the adidas 3SSB circuit in the summer of 2023, averaging 15.6.

Rooths spent his first two prep seasons at Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, Maryland, as stated in UofL’s official announcement. For his final two years, he attended the IMG Academy, where he was coached by Sean McAloon.

In the national quarterfinal, Rooths shot 8 for 11 from the field, scoring 19 points and grabbing six rebounds, helping the Ascenders to a 20-9 record and the No. 7 seed in the Chipotle Nationals as a senior.

In the Nike EYBL 2023–24 season, Rooths’ line was 8.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 blocks on average per game. Over the 12 games, his field goal percentage was 44%.
