Done Deal” Just Now: Johnell Davis Agree Another Four Year Contract With Arkansas….
FAYETTEVILLE: Johnell Davis, a signee for the Arkansas men’s basketball team, has apparently decided not to enter the NBA Draft and will play his last collegiate season with the Razorbacks. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the story first.
The deadline for withdrawals was this Wednesday.
The highly regarded Florida Atlantic transfer Davis turned down an invitation to G League Elite Camp and skipped the NBA Draft Combine in the past. In most mock drafts, his selection was not anticipated. According to Jonathan Givnoy of ESPN, Davis will check out with a few NBA teams before the withdrawal deadline.
One of the most highly-touted athletes in the NCAA transfer portal, Davis joins the Razorbacks. He averaged 18.2 points and 6.3 rebounds in 2023–24, shooting 41% from three-point range. He was a key component of FAU’s 2023 Final Four success.
Since the hiring of John Calipari as coach, he is one of eight players to pledge to Arkansas. The others include freshman Karter Knox, Johnuel “Boogie” Fland, and Billy Richmond; transfers Zvonimir Ivisic (Kentucky), Jonas Aidoo (Tennessee), Adou Thiero (Kentucky), and DJ Wagner (Kentucky). At the SEC Spring Meetings in Florida, Calipari told reporters he hoped to add one more player to the roster.
