A head start to the baseball offseason is given by brothers teaming up in Hog uniforms.

Arkansas’s FAYETTEVILLE Instead of beginning the Super Regional at Baum-Walker on a day that most Arkansas fans had hoped for, they have an extended offseason to keep an eye on the transfer portal.

Kuhio Aloy committed to the Razorbacks on Friday, becoming the team’s first pickup out of the portal for Arkansas this season. The younger brother of Razorback shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, who started every 60 games at shortstop this season and is the only player to play in every game for the Hogs, Kuhio is an entering sophomore from BYU.

Kuhio, a member of the Cougar squad that finished 21-31 with a 7-23 record in the Big 12, just finished his freshman season at BYU with a slash line of.269/.329/.447, eight home runs, and a team-high 38 RBIs. Kuhio was chosen to the All-Big 12 Freshman team.

According to Baseball Reference, the younger Aloy started every one of BYU’s 52 games during his rookie season (50 starts), however he only had four field appearances at first base, earning the majority of his starts as the designated hitter.

Now that both Aloys and Nolan Souza have committed, the Razorbacks have three Hawaiian infielders on their roster. It is important to note that none of the three qualify for the draft.
