Breaking: Detroit Lions Closing In On Deal To Sign 14.2 Million Former Pro Bowler….

Apparently, during Detroit Lions scheduled team workouts, things got a little too violent.

The Lions made the announcement on Friday night that they would have to miss Monday’s OTA practice due to their violation of the player work regulations pertaining to on-field physical contact. The club’s complete statement is as follows:

“The NFL and NFLPA informed the organization on Friday night that the player work regulations regarding on-field physical contact as stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement were broken during Organized Team Activities (OTA) during the week of May 27. Consequently, Monday, June 10th, the team’s OTA session has been forfeited. We have made every effort to conduct our practices in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the NFL’s Offseason Program because we take them very seriously. We’re going to keep an eye on our procedures going forward.

Under the collective labor agreement, OTAs that have live contact are prohibited. It is not unheard of for teams to forfeit practices or incur fines.

The Lions were scheduled to resume their last OTA session from Monday through Wednesday. The team completed OTA exercises from May 21–23 and May 29–31. They will now make a Tuesday return. Detroit has completed its required minicamp, which took place last week.
