Very interesting” Utah Jazz Make A Bold Step To Sign 87.6 Million On Blockbuster Trade
SALT LAKE CITY: Ryan Smith, owner of the Utah Jazz and NHL, stopped on the KSL Sports Zone to discuss all things basketball and hockey in Utah.
Smith related a humorous anecdote from a few years ago about how a front-office employee of the New Orleans Pelicans requested the return of the “Jazz” name.
Smith remarked, “I will always remember my first preseason game.” “Can we get that name back?” asked a Pelicans general manager as he approached. I was at a loss for words. It would be more acceptable to say that you guys have the Saints in this case. Why don’t we simply switch places?
Obviously, they were having a lighthearted talk about the NBA’s history with New Orleans and Utah.
But it poses a thought-provoking query. What if the Pelicans truly wanted to reclaim the Jazz moniker?
Regretfully, Crescent City, Utah is currently too identified with the name.
Smith declared, “There’s nothing wrong with our Jazz history.” “You have people who have been a part of different parts of our incredible jazz history.”
Smith continued by admitting that the state isn’t the greatest fit for the Jazz moniker.
What counts, though, is that the fans have embraced Mountain Basketball since the team’s 1979 debut and have grown to adore it. According to Smith, “the Jazz brand is definitely trickier than many in the NBA.” “Coming from New Orleans and (already) having a name is very different from Boston or Chicago or San Antonio.”
