Report Knicks Lose A Mega-Star To Dallas For Replacement Of Obi Over….
Is the New York Knicks roster overly loaded with Villanova players? Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Donte DiVincenzo, who all had significant roles for New York in the 2023–24 NBA season, are already on the Knicks.
When Hart said, “Come to the Nets?” on the Knicks shooting guard’s Instagram post, Brooklyn Nets guard-forward Mikal Bridges—who now plays in the Big Apple—seemed to be reaching out to recruit Hart, as he was not far from his college friends.
Even though Hart would really like to, he cannot simply leave New York and join the Nets. He currently has until 2027 to become a free agent if the Knicks exercise their $80.92 million club option on Hart for the 2027–2028 season. This is because he signed a four-year extension deal worth that amount back in 2023.
Hart also seems content with his tenure with the Knicks, who, in spite of a damaged squad, just advanced all the way to the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Hart, who shared a national championship with DiVincenzo, Bridges, and Brunson throughout his collegiate career, averaged 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game over the course of 13 games in the 2024 postseason.
Regarding Bridges, the Nets had a dismal season, winning just 32 games and losing 50, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
