Report Brewers Complete Deal For Another Most Wanted MLB Star
Before playing the Los Angeles Angels in the series finale, the Milwaukee Brewers made a few roster changes. Tyler Black, an infielder, and Bradley Blalock, a right-handed pitcher, were recalled from Double-A. Pitcher Elieser Hernandez was designated for assignment and infielder Oliver Dunn was optioned.
Both Bradley Blalock and Tyler Black are in their second stints with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Bradley Blalock and Tyler Black each spent time in the major leagues earlier this year. Black was given 22 at-bats, five hits, and two base steals. Blalock did not play in a game despite receiving a promotion to the major leagues.
Tyler Black is expected to see some playing time, either as the designated hitter or at first base, as the Brewers prepare to face the San Diego Padres from Thursday through Monday. Manager Pat Murphy has not disclosed the exact plans for any of these players. Conversely, reliever Elieser Hernandez is being replaced by Bradley Blalock. This implies that for Blalock to show up in a game, a low leverage scenario might need to occur.
Tyler Black, who was chosen in 2021, played every position in the minor leagues in 2022, both infield and outfield. Black played third base at the beginning of the 2023 season before seeing time at first base. Given that Jake Bauers’ minor league options are over and current Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins is signed to a short-term contract, it is certain that Milwaukee sees Black as an important component of their first base strategy. Given Bauer’s recent struggles, it’s possible that Bauer’s time may be nearing its end if Black can ignite anything.
