During his college career, Tre Mitchell attended four different institutions for five seasons. He has now officially entered the professional ranks after signing after the 2024 NB Draft.
As an undrafted free agent, Mitchell was signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder to a summer league contract, according to Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio.
Mitchell played for UMass, Texas, West Virginia, and Kentucky during his five years in college. In 129 games for the four programs, he shot 33.8% from three and 48.3% from the field, averaging 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds.
During his final season as a graduate student for the Wildcats, Mitchell shot 48.4% overall and finished with 10.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and a block. That put him in the top five in the other important metrics, second in minutes, and as their best rebounder.
Mitchell, a Pittsburgh native, graduated from Woodstock Academy (CT). There, as the No. 80 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, he was a four-star talent. The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that takes into account all four of the major recruiting media businesses, supports this claim. He was ranked No. 2 in Connecticut and No. 15 overall in the class, behind only Akok Akok (UConn, Georgetown, West Virginia).
