Park Rangers Make Bid For £86.6 Million Norwich City Target….
This summer, Queens Park Rangers will be looking to add a new midfield player, and they have renewed their interest in Jonathan Varane of Sporting Gijon.
Varane is the brother of former Manchester United and Real Madrid center-back Raphael Varane. The signing of Varane was first made public by French publication L’Equipe during the January transfer window. The article did, however, also state that Norwich City, a Championship team, was monitoring his circumstances in Spain.
The 22-year-old was reportedly offered £2.1 million by the Canaries, according to L’Equipe. The West London team intended to recruit him on loan for the balance of the 2023–2024 season, with the option to buy put into his contract to make the transaction permanent in the summer.
However, no agreement was reached with either side, and Varane stayed in the second division of Spain. Sporting lost to Espanyol in the play-off semifinals, which prevented them from being promoted to La Liga. Despite this setback, the West London team is still in the process of signing Varane.
Queens Park Rangers made an attempt to acquire the Frenchman by putting up a £1.7 million bid, according to an El Comercio article obtained by Sport Witness. Sporting Gijon, however, has turned this down since they are now requesting a far greater price. According to the outlet, QPR might make another bid shortly as head coach Marti Cifuentes looks to reinforce his midfield unit. Varane’s contract at El Molinon still has three years left, which is why Sporting Gijon is requesting a large sum of money.
