The last year for vehicle sales on Parkway is started with the Pigeon Forge Rod Run….

WVLT – PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. Due to the event’s increasing popularity, Pigeon Forge city executives met with elected officials on Thursday to give them an update on the schedule for the upcoming auto show.

Parts of the event will change later this year due to a change in rules that will prevent sellers from advertising cars for sale on The Parkway. On the Parkway, there are cars parked with signs that say “for sale” or only the price.

In light of a recent agreement regarding public rights of way, this will be prohibited for years to come.

Assistant City Manager Eric Brackins stated, “Going forward, the new sublease calls for no commercial activity in the state right of way, so you would not be able to sell a vehicle in the state right of way.”

Pigeon Forge subleasethe spaces to companies to maintain them after leasing the state’s right of way for more parking at establishments. The recent deal with the state of Tennessee further restricts what can be done for profit on these areas. “It just clarifies in the new sub lease what’s always been there, which is that no advertising is allowed in the state right of way,” Brackins said.

One of the biggest draws for the thousands of attendees to the event is the vehicles and their sale.

In an effort to maintain traffic flow and ensure that no one is breaching the law, police intend to deploy more enforcement. “There comes a time when there are simply too many automobiles on the road and not enough space for them. As a result, we do our best to maintain traffic flow and monitor it with our police. Alternative routes are strongly advised for individuals who are not attending the car show, according to Pigeon Forge Police Chief Richie Catlett.

As the number of aid requests rises, this chief stated that drivers and pedestrians alike must abide by traffic laws.
