According to an ESPN story on Friday, Johnny Juzang, a restricted free agent, has agreed to a four-year contract to rejoin the Utah Jazz.
After playing for the Jazz for the previous two seasons on consecutive two-way contracts, Juzang signed a $12 million deal. Juzang, 23, averaged 7.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 20 games (5 starts) last season while shooting 41.6 percent from three-point range.
The previous season, he played in 18 games without making a start, scoring 4.8 points on average and shooting 23.8 percent from outside the arc.
Juzang transferred to UCLA after playing collegiate hoops at Kentucky with Tyrese Maxey and Immanuel Quickley. The native of Los Angeles was left undrafted.
Johnny Juzang, a former UCLA Bruin, re-signed with the Utah Jazz, agreeing to a $12 million, four-year contract.
Following the end of the 2021–22 season, Juzang decided to forego his last year of eligibility with UCLA and entered the NBA Draft. Regretfully, he was not chosen; however, the Jazz signed him as an undrafted free agent.
He has had two-way contracts for the past two seasons. This gave him the opportunity to play for both the Jazz and the Salt Lake City Stars in the G-League. He participated in 38 games throughout those two seasons, 20 of which were in the 2023–2024 campaign. Of those games, seventeen were played in the team’s final 21 games of the season.
He averaged 1.2 rebounds and 7.8 points per game in that season. He also had field goal percentages of 46.4% and 3-point percentage of 41.6%.
He led the UCLA Bruins with 15.8 points and 179 made baskets in his senior year. He contributed to the Bruins’ 27-8 record and Sweet Sixteen run. He made the Bruins to the Final Four the previous year, their first since 2008.
