Reggie Chaney, a former college basketball player who played for the Arkansas Razorbacks and was a member of the Houston Cougars’ 2021 Final Four squad, has passed away. His age was 23.
Chaney passed away on Monday, the Houston Chronicle was informed by a source close to the Cougars basketball team. Before he passed away, he was scheduled to play basketball professionally in Greece.
“The family of A. E Psychikou, with a deep sorrow, announces that athlete Reggie Chaney who would become a member of our team, died last night in America, of unknown cause, at the age of just 23,” the Greek team posted to its Facebook page.
It was not immediately clear what caused the death.
“The loss of Reggie Chaney has saddened the Razorback men’s basketball family. His teammates adored him and he was a hard worker. “Our prayers and thoughts are with his family,” Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman posted on X, a platform that was once known as Twitter.
