(AP) — OWINGS MILL, Md. Alex Collins, a former NFL running back who spent five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks, was murdered, according to investigators, in a motorbike accident in South Florida. He was 28 years old.

Collins was operating a motorbike when it collided with a sport utility vehicle near Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, on Sunday night, according to a news release from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcycle Collins was riding collided with the back passenger side of the SUV during a left turn. Collins was struck by the car, breaking through the SUV’s window and landing inside, according to the sheriff’s office. Collins was declared deceased on the spot.

Authorities added that the driver of the SUV, whose identity was suppressed, stayed at the site and assisted the investigation.
