Jimy Williams has away. He was the Boston team’s 1999 American League Manager of the Year, won 910 games over twelve seasons (including stints with Toronto and Houston), and later served as the bench coach for Philadelphia during the team’s final World Series victory. He was eighty.

Following a brief illness, Williams passed away on Friday at AdventHealth North Pinellas Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Florida, according to the Red Sox. Williams resided in Palm Harbor, which is nearby. Jimy Williams led the Red Sox as manager from 1997 to 2001 and was a tremendous team leader.
