Najee Harris, RB for the Steelers, confirms another 186.8 million Million to…
Since it was only worth $6.79 million, the Steelers’ decision to reject running back Najee Harris’ fifth-year option this offseason has been hotly contested.
For the majority of the offseason, Harris remained silent on the matter; however, he finally spoke on Wednesday.
“I was disappointed for a minute but it’s nothing where me sitting around being disappointed for too long would do anything to help me out,” Harris stated. “I think that it is what it is.”
Since Harris became the first player in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards in just three seasons, Pittsburgh’s choice was somewhat perplexing. However, the organization made several changes this offseason, including hiring Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator.
Prior to committing long-term, the Steelers want to observe how Harris and fellow running back Jaylen Warren fit into Smith’s playbook, according to a May report from ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
On Wednesday, Harris provided confirmation of that notion, stating, “They didn’t know which direction the offense is headed.”
Although the organization hasn’t fully ruled out Harris returning in 2025, some people think that the 2024 campaign will be Harris’ last one in Pittsburgh.
