Report-Pittsburgh Steelers coach upsets George Pickens on first day of…..

Training camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers got underway on Thursday. Russell Wilson has a minor calf injury that prevented him from playing with his new colleagues. However, George Pickens was back in action, and Justin Fields was a part of the starting offensive.

Fields’ effort in the 7-on-7 drills received high praise. However, it was probably unexpected for Steelers supporters to learn that Pickens was criticized by Zach Azzanni, the team’s new receivers coach.

In his third season, Pickens—who led the Steelers in targets, catches, yards, and touchdowns—should see even more improvement. The Steelers had high expectations for their 23-yard receiver after a season in which he gained 1,140 yards, but he hasn’t exactly had the best start to camp.

Let’s just say that George Pickens and Zach Azzanni, the new receivers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, didn’t have the finest start to training camp. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo reported that Azzanni and Pickens engaged in a notably “heated exchange.”

The confrontation happened toward the end of practice because Azzanni wasn’t happy with how Pickens completed one of his tasks. It’s unclear from the article if it occurred during a play in which he was blocking, receiving passes, or acting as a route runner.

But following the heated argument, Pickens showed signs of being “visibly upset.” As previously said, Azzanni has never collaborated with Pickens before this year. After spending the previous season with the New York Jets, he joined the Steelers.
