Shocking News: Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Jason Kidd Resign Today
Not having much cap room, the Dallas Mavericks had a busy offseason. Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Green, and Derrick Jones Jr. were transformed into Spencer Dinwiddie, Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes, and Naji Marshall.
Reporters and analysts have rated the team’s summer as it has largely settled down with a few additions being finalized here and there throughout the league. A few of those grades are shown here.
“Needing shooting, the reigning Western Conference champions signed one of the best shooters in league history. After suffering back-to-back season-ending injuries a couple years ago, the 34-year-old Thompson is not even close to the player he was when he was selected to five consecutive All-Star teams. Even yet, he managed to shoot 39% on nine 3-point attempts a game the previous season and will benefit greatly from assists from Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić.
In any other case, the Mavericks replaced some of its bench players with Marshall, Grimes, and Dinwiddie in place of Jones, Green, and Hardaway, who were traded. A Dončić-led squad should benefit from the abilities Marshall and Grimes are still developing, and Dinwiddie had a fantastic year in Dallas two years ago. Though Marshall and Grimes’ progress as well as Thompson’s health will ultimately determine how well this offseason goes, the Mavs have earned the right to be skeptical of any moves made on their margins.”
