Report-Tigers Aquired Outfielder Worth 196.6 Million To Yankees….

In their first trade of the trade deadline season, the Tigers sent catcher Carson Kelly to the Rangers on Sunday in exchange for prospects. It was a smart move since it gave No. 11 prospect Dillon Dingler the opportunity to make his MLB debut on Monday, when he scored his first major league hit in four plate appearances (a double, walk, and RBI). Additionally, it gave the Tigers room to add a few more talented players to their Double-A roster.

However, it was obvious that the Tigers were not done with the Rangers. Detroit traded another walk-year player to Arlington on Tuesday, just hours before the actual trade deadline of 6 PM EST. According to Jeff Passan, Andrew Chafin will be accompanying Kelly.

Similar to Kelly, Chafin was a perfect fit as a trade piece. He has a great $6.5 million club option for 2025, which the Rangers will now have to exercise. This season, he has pitched admirably out of Detroit’s bullpen, logging 37 innings and posting a 3.16 ERA.

Although the return has not been officially announced, it is probably safe to assume that the Tigers will receive a couple of prospects back from the Rangers, similar to what happened with Kelly. However, given Chafin’s exceptional strikeout, whiff, and chase rates this season in addition to his club option, Detroit may be able to obtain a couple of ranked prospects this time around.
