Sky Plotting Trade For Key Star To Replace Angel Reese To Sovlve Team Weakness….
Chicago – The Chicago Sky will fulfill the pledge made by team ownership to provide exclusive player facilities by breaking ground on a purpose-built training facility this autumn. Constructed in collaboration with the Village of Bedford Park, the $38 million facility will be situated south of Midway Airport, adjacent to the Wintrust Sports Complex. The Sky anticipate that the 40,000 square foot facility will be fully operational for the 2026 WNBA season when construction is finished by December 2025. In a time when women’s basketball is expanding quickly, co-owner and operating chair Nadia Rawlinson views the completion of this facility as a critical step forward. Rawlinson declared, “We are not derivative of anyone.” “We have two feet of our own. As a company, we have needs, wants, and desires of our own.
The team’s existing training facilities at Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield only have one court; the new facility will feature two courts that are regulation size. Other features of the new structure will be private kitchens, player lounges, rehabilitation and film rooms, strength and conditioning equipment, and individual lockers. The Wintrust Arena, home of the Sky, is located 11 miles from the Bedford Park facility location. That will cut the trip considerably compared to Sachs, which is located around 30 miles away from Wintrust Arena. The Sky will be able to shift player apartments from Deerfield to downtown Chicago thanks to this change. Although the South Loop is a key option, Rawlinson stated that the team has not decided on a new location for player housing.
