Report-Cardinals Hit Another Mega-pitcher On Blockbuster Trade Line
St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn will go on the 15-day injured list due to irritation in his right knee during his comeback season. With a knee issue, Lynn pitched five innings of one-run ball Friday night against the Texas Rangers, who are now leading the World Series. Lynn looked excellent. After his historic victory on Tuesday, Lynn was reportedly walking with “a pretty noticeable limp,” according to Katie Woo of The Athletic. With a win over each of the 30 MLB clubs, the seasoned pitcher is now the 23rd pitcher to do it.
After rejoining his previous team in the offseason, 37-year-old Lynn has been a reliable addition to the Cardinals rotation. He has made 21 starts for St. Louis and is a two-time All-Star. With 97 strikeouts in 106 ⅓ innings, he has a 4.06 ERA. As he hobbled around the clubhouse, Lynn realized his knee injury was “pretty serious,” according to MLB.com’s John Denton. It’s yet unknown if he had imaging tests. St. Louis is hopeful that Lynn can recuperate with rest and rehabilitation, though. Lynn is merely the most recent setback to an injury-plagued Cardinals rotation that once featured just four starts. Erick Fedde, a recently acquired righty, will take Lynn’s place in the starting rotation. Fedde is experiencing a comeback season, just like Lynn.
