Unbelivable: Jack Flaherty Rejects 450.6 Million Per Week To Dodgers…..
With a commanding 4.5-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West, the Dodgers head into today’s MLB contests. Before the deadline, the Padres made a few significant moves that helped them pose a real threat in the second half of the game. But before Tuesday’s deadline, LA also made a few equally significant moves.
The trade for pitcher Jack Flaherty of the Detroit Tigers was the most prominent of them. For a long time, the eight-year veteran has been a reliable middle-of-the-rotation player. But in 2024, he’s having a great year that coincides with his entry into free agency following the season. Because of this, even if Los Angeles was unable to sign Garrett Crochet, his acquisition was viewed as a significant victory.
But it appears that the 28-year-old was on the verge of signing with the New York Yankees until they pulled out of the negotiations.
Ken Rosenthal, the MLB insider for The Athletic, wrote this: “According to sources briefed on the discussions, the Yankees backed out of a preliminary trade agreement with the Detroit Tigers for Flaherty after reviewing the right-hander’s medical records.”
Rosenthal did provide an explanation for why that would not be a major problem, despite the fact that it sounds alarming. For the Dodgers, anyway.
