Multiple Trade: Guardians Set To Lose The Second 10 Times MVP On Blockbuster Trade
CLEVELAND, Ohio — What began as a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad start for Logan Allen turned into something special, even if the Guardians went on to lose Monday’s series opener to the Diamondbacks, 7-6 in 10 innings. The question now for Allen is, was his gutsy effort enough to keep him in Cleveland’s rotation with trade deadline reinforcement Alex Cobb and veteran lefty Matthew Boyd inching closer and closer to their season debuts?
On his first pitch to Ketel Marte, Allen gave up a home run; four pitches later, he gave up another to Gabriel Moreno. After spending a month at Triple-A Columbus, Allen appeared to be done with his major league comeback when Randal Grichuk crushed a 105 mph rocket off the side of his head.
But from then on, Allen’s situation improved.
