Providence Friars Women’s Basketball Summer Check-In….

After the season? The Friars defeated Butler 75-60 in the Big East tournament’s opening round, but were destroyed 86-53 by UConn in the quarterfinals. A 13–20 record, for whatever reason, was sufficient to get a bye into the WNIT, the third playoff event after the NCAA tournament and the WBIT. Despite having home court advantage and additional rest for Colgate, PC’s season ended in a 54-41 loss in their first WNIT game.

Important Departures: Two ladies stand out for their contributions to the Friars from the previous season, albeit one was a player we weren’t expecting to have to consider in the summer. That’s Laryn Edwards, who played at Loyola-Maryland for four seasons before quitting.
