Kurt Busch, a former NASCAR champion, was reportedly driving while inebriated when he was arrested in North Carolina on Monday night, according to several accounts.

At 11:32 p.m., according to the police, the 46-year-old was speeding in a 45 mph zone in a 2024 Lexus. Busch reportedly had “red glassy eyes” and a “strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath,” according to police reports. He “admitted to drinking prior to driving,” according to the police.

According to Road & Track, he reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.17 percent, more than double the state of North Carolina’s legal limit.
