Djamel Sedjati, the bronze medallist in the 800 meters at the Olympics, is reportedly still being investigated by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after a spectacular raid in the Olympic village a few days before the final race.

A search related to an ongoing investigation into suspected doping activities was carried out by French anti-doping investigators a week ago, although the event received little media attention at the time.

The French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) conducted the raid, which was part of a larger investigation that also included Algerian athletics coach Amar Benida, and it was directed towards Sedjati’s lodgings.

Sources close to the probe have told the French sports daily L’Equipe that Benida was the main subject of the investigation.

This information casts a different light on the incidents, raising the possibility that Sedjati was not the intended target but rather was only a bystander in the larger probe.
