Rose Harvey of Team GB finished the Olympic marathon in 78th place, clocking in at two hours, 51 minutes, and 3 seconds. She said on Instagram that although learning she had fractured her leg was devastating, finishing the event was a goal of hers to compete in the Olympics.
The 31-year-old ran a time of two hours, 51 minutes, and three seconds to finish 78th in the marathon on Sunday.
Harvey posted on Instagram, “This was far from the Olympics I dreamed of, but still an experience of a lifetime,” along with a photo of herself returning to the UK on crutches.
“I was ecstatic to take the stage, prove to everyone that I was capable of joining Team GB, and—most importantly—make everyone who had supported me along the way proud.”
And everything was looking fantastic just a few weeks ago. The training had gone really well. After that, I started to feel a little tight in my hip.
