Steve Johnson on the Big 3: ‘Novak Djokovic’s the easiest to….

Men’s tennis was transformed and elevated to a new level by the Big 3. Before Novak Djokovic shocked the world and nearly broke every record, the rivalry between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer attracted a lot of people to this sport.

The Serbian champion, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles, has entered the competition between the Swiss and the Spaniard, resulting in more thrilling matchups. Thanks to his performances in the 2022 Australian Open and French Open, Rafa advanced to his 22nd Major, while Federer was only able to win 20 Grand Slam championships following the horrific Wimbledon 2019 hoax.

A severe knee injury forced the Swiss player to retire from tennis in 2022, and Rafa’s retirement appears to be imminent as well. The Spanish champion is taking his time to consider his options because he hasn’t accomplished much this year. Although Novak is still competitive and recently won the gold medal at the Olympics in Paris, he will not be able to win a Grand Slam in 2024 due to the ascent of emerging talents like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Later this month, at the US Open, the 37-year-old Belgrade native will attempt to win his 25th Major and maybe break Margaret Court’s all-time record.
