The Newcastle Knights’ Ronald Griffiths has been appointed as the NRLW coach by the New Zealand Warriors, they have revealed.

Following his two consecutive championship victory with the Newcastle Knights NRLW, Griffiths will sign a three-year contract with the Warriors in 2025.

He was elevated to the NSW Cup Knights squad for the current campaign as a result, but he has made the decision to resume coaching the women’s team for the following one.

In 2023 and 2024, he led the Indigenous All Stars to victories over the Maori All Stars, capping a successful coaching career.

One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George commented, “We’re overjoyed to have Ron join us for our return to the NRLW.”

“We were able to select the most qualified coach for this position, which was crucial.

“Ron has a fantastic coaching background and will be a huge asset to our club as we return to the NRLW.”

Following their re-addition to the league for the 2025 season alongside the Canterbury Bulldogs, the decision was made to appoint Griffiths as their NRLW head coach.

Along with the Broncos, Dragons, and Roosters, the Warriors were once one of the four founding teams; however, they left during the COVID-19 epidemic.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, the Warriors, along with the Broncos, Dragons, and Roosters, were no longer part of the original four foundation teams.
