FI Top Star Max Verstappen Says He Will Not Race With….
The FIA has officially admitted that Max Verstappen should have been given a formal warning about the Lando Norris incident at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen and Lando Norris collided during the contentious Austrian Grand Prix, and the FIA has now admitted that Verstappen should have been given a black and white warning flag.
Verstappen and Lando Norris were dueling for the lead when they collided at Turn 3 on lap 64 of the race at the Red Bull Ring on June 30. The stewards determined that Verstappen had moved in the braking zone, which caused the incident. Norris retired when both of them sustained punctures, and he finished fifth, earning two penalty points and a 10-second time penalty.
Though it is unacceptable, Verstappen again moved under braking during the battle, raising concerns about his behavior. McLaren CEO Andrea Stella chastised the stewards for failing to stop Verstappen’s aggressive driving against Lewis Hamilton in 2021.
Both drivers emphasized at the British Grand Prix that they had moved past the incident, and the topic was brought up in the team manager’s meeting. Here, according to RacingNews365, FIA race director Niels Wittich acknowledged that the first maneuver under braking by the Red Bull should have been marked with the black and white driving rules flag.
