Lions Key Man Broken Down As Family Involve In Accident’ Wife And four Kid Lost See More
The Detroit Lions’ secondary had a very difficult season. In 2023, they gave up the sixth-highest number of throwing yards and touchdowns. This offseason, the Lions parted ways with two starter corners, overhauling their cornerback room.
The Lions cut Cameron Sutton and decided not to tender Jerry Jacobs. By obtaining Carlton Davis III (via trade), Amik Robertson (free agent signing), Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (draft pick), and an SEC CB in the first round, they significantly strengthened their secondary.
Terrion Arnold went to the Lions with the 24th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Arnold was a press-man cornerback for the Alabama Crimson Tide for three seasons during his collegiate career. He became one of the top players in the country and was named to the All-American First Team in 2023.
There is only one starting cornerback position available for the Lions going into training camp. With two places open—the nickel (Brian Branch played in the slot last season but may see playing time as a safety) and the right side—Carlton Davis III is expected to hold down the left side.
Terrion Arnold has established himself as the front-runner for the right side/CB2 position. During both the required minicamp and the optional OTAs, he has been assigned the majority of first-team reps, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com.
“We’ll see if Davis and Arnold carry over their position as the starting outside cornerbacks with the first-team defense into training camp,” said the coach in charge of OTAs and minicamp.
