Report Browns Closing To Announce Two Year Deal With Top Player
According to multiple reports on Monday, the Cleveland Browns and kicker Dustin Hopkins have reached an agreement on a three-year, $15.9 million extension that will keep Hopkins with the team through the 2027 season. The $5.3 million average will tie Hopkins for fifth among kickers with Ka’imi Fairbairn of the Houston Texans. In 2024, Hopkins will make $2.875 in base salary, the final year of a three-year contract he signed in 2022. Hopkins, 33, finished with 123 points and made 33 of 36 field goals for a career-best 91.7 percentage last season for the Browns. He also converted all eight of his field goals from 50 or more yards. The Browns acquired Hopkins from the Los Angeles Chargers just before the 2023 season began.
Hopkins has made 223 of 260 field goals (85.8 percent) and 245 of 260 extra points (94.2 percent) in nine NFL seasons. In 124 career games with Cleveland, Los Angeles (2021–22), and Washington (2015–21), Hopkins has scored 914 points.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns and kicker Dustin Hopkins have reached a three-year, $15.9 million contract agreement, according to a source familiar with the talks who spoke with The Associated Press on Monday night.
After being acquired from the Los Angeles Chargers in a trade, Hopkins was a key player for Cleveland in the previous campaign. The individual who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity stated that he is under contract until the 2027 season even though the deal hasn’t been finalized. Hopkins is now one of the highest-paid kickers in the NFL thanks to the deal, which was first reported by ESPN.com.
