Report-Providence loses out on four-star recruit to Virginia Tech basketball….

Small forward Jaylen Harrell has been on Virginia Tech men’s basketball coach Mike Young’s radar and the veteran coach made the final six for the talented player in the Class of 2025 from Massachusetts. In the end, however, Harrell chose to stay in the New England area. The rising four-star committed to Providence Monday night over Virginia Tech, Alabama, Kansas, Rutgers, Xavier and more. It’s not surprising that he chose Providence as Friars head coach Kim English has been recruiting hard in the New England area. Harrell, who plays for powerhouse CATS Academy in Braintree, Mass. is the 86th-ranked recruit in his class according to On3 Industry Rankings and the 20th-ranked small forward prospect.

To be honest, Virginia Tech had little chance of winning Harrell over as they faced off against some of the nation’s top programs in Kansas, Alabama, and Providence, a school located just 35 minutes to the south of Braintree. Without a doubt, he would have been a fantastic addition to Young’s Class of 2025, but it is not shocking that he chose to join the Friars.

As of right now, Virginia Tech’s single commitment for the Class of 2025 is from Sin’Cere Jones, who committed on June 16. He is a skilled player who can drive to the hoop, create his own opportunities, and assist teammates. Harrell would have made a valuable addition to him. Rather, it’s onto

Since Virginia Tech was up against some formidable programs in Kansas, Alabama, and Providence, which is located just 35 minutes south of Braintree, it was, to be honest, a long chance that Harrell would commit. Don’t get me wrong, I think he would have made a fantastic addition to Young’s Class of 2025, but it’s not shocking that he ended up with the Friars.

The lone commitment Virginia Tech currently has for the Class of 2025 is from Sin’Cere Jones, who committed on June 16. He is a skillful player who can drive to the hoop, generate his own shot, and pass the ball to teammates. It would have been good to have Harrell join him. As an alternative, it’s onto
