RIP, star center for the Dallas Mavericks Following the death of his mother, a man pays tribute.

After a ten-year struggle with Hodgkin’s cancer, Kathy Drysdale, the mother of Mavericks rookie center Dereck Lively II, passed away on Friday.

In an Instagram post, Lively disclosed the death of his mother, little under two hours prior to the Mavericks-Pistons game at American Airlines Center. Following pregame introductions, the Mavericks observed a moment of silence in the arena. Lively was in attendance, sporting the Mavericks jersey his mother had worn, which featured Drysdale’s number on the back. “It hurts to say goodbye to my mom, who is my best friend, my superhero, my biggest supporter, and the most important person in the world,” Lively wrote.
