Unfortunately, another tragedy has struck the family of Boston Red Sox legend Tim Wakefield. On Wednesday, following a fight with cancer, his wife Stacy passed away. Tim Wakefield, who had also battled the disease, passed away five months ago.

“We share our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, and aunt, Stacy, who passed away today at her home in Massachusetts with deep sadness. Her dear friends, her family, and her wonderful nurses and caretakers surrounded her. Given that Tim was lost less than five months ago, the loss is unbearable. Our hearts are utterly broken.

Stacy was a strong, loving, thoughtful, and kind individual, as down-to-earth as they are. We are so grateful to have had her in our lives, and we are relieved that she will reunite with Tim, her love of her life. We would like to express our gratitude to all of the healthcare providers, nurses, and caretakers who assisted Stacy from her diagnosis to today.
