Rest In Peace: Always In Our Hearts “A vital Blue Jays player who plays for the Yankees passes away in a terrible accident.
The 17-year-old daughter of the first base coach of the Toronto Blue Jays passed away in a “freak accident” while tubing down the James River in Virginia with her family and friends.
The Virginia Department of Wildlife reported that on Saturday, Julia Budzinski, the daughter of coach Mark Budzinski, and her sister tumbled off the tube and into the water while tubing on the James River behind a boat. A family friend who was in charge of the boat turned around to retrieve the girls after the two fell into the water. But according to the department, a wave rose up from beneath the boat, lifting it over Julia and sending a propeller slamming into the sea.
Julia was taken to land and taken to the hospital after the boat operator plunged into the water to try to save her, according to Paige Pearson, a spokesman for the Virginia Department of Wildlife, who spoke with ABC News.
On Saturday, July 2, Julia was declared dead despite the prompt response. According to Pearson, there was no drinking or foul play involved, and both girls were wearing life jackets, ABC News said.
