There are moments when something brings you back to earth and helps you see why you lost the baseball game. Just hours before the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks squared off in their NLCS Game 7, heartbreaking news broke that a member of the Phillies family had sadly died.

The 21-year-old prospect Alexeis Azuaje perished in a car crash in Miranda, Venezuela on the Charallave-Ocumare del Tuy route. The news was reported by journalist Darvinson Rojas Sánchez.

Sánchez claimed that Azuaje “was driving a Ford Fiesta that crashed into a utility pole.”

Yeison Gómez Viera and Jorgelis Soto Luna were the other two victims of the tragedy, while Luis Rojas Vegas was injured.
