Tennessee / Pigeon Forge — Assistant City Manager Eric Brackins of Pigeon Forge says that the city will soon stop advertising automobiles on the parkway’s side.
At auto shows like Rod Run, visitors frequently place advertisements for cars on the side of the road. Starting on Thursday, enthusiasts will be able to advertise their automobiles at this year’s Rod Run. But that might alter in the fall, according to Brackins.
That modification is required by an agreement between Pigeon Forge and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The parkway’s “right of way,” which includes the first row of parking lots in front of the shops along the parkway, is owned by TDOT. These parking spaces are leased by the state agency to Pigeon Forge, which then subleasees them to nearby companies.
According to the 2016 leasing agreement between TDOT and Pigeon Forge, no advertising of any kind may be displayed on cars parked there.
Nonetheless, the agreements between TDOT and the nearby companies stated that advertisements on vehicles stopped in the right of way may not remain visible for longer than 72 hours.
