Unbelievable: Nick Chubb, RB for the Browns, announced his departure after agreeing to a 96.8 million dollar contract.
The Cleveland Browns have mostly adopted an old-school approach during the past few seasons, even in an NFL football era where the passing game reigns supreme. When running back Nick Chubb is the most explosive player in the league in addition to being the best, you can accomplish that.
The 2024 Browns should advance as far as quarterback Deshaun Watson and an outstanding group of players allow them to. Watson and Chubb were both ranked in the top 15 players in our DBN player rankings, but it was not anticipated that the standout running back would play again very soon.
Then, on Friday, we learned that Chubb was participating in agility exercises and full sprints at Cleveland’s training camp.
It’s interesting that Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski had taken a risk.
After recovering from a knee injury, Nick Chubb leads the NFL in rushing
Wearing his cape and cowl once again will be a simple task for Chubb if he starts the season as Cleveland’s leading back, has a more stable quarterback situation, and has fewer runners surpass 1,100 yards.
With 1,459 yards last year, Christian McCaffrey led the league in rushing. Just three other rushing backs reached 1,100 yards in 2023, as Sobleski pointed out; Derrick Henry finished second, over 300 yards behind McCaffrey.
In 2022, Chubb recorded his highest career rushing yardage of 1,525. In 2019, he also fell six yards short of 1,500 yards rushing.
If Chubb leads the NFL and Watson can become “more stabilized,”
