Saint Paul, Minnesota – Bill Guerin, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the Minnesota Wild, today announced an extension of the team’s three-year ECHL affiliation deal with the Iowa Heartlanders. The Heartlanders will continue to support the Iowa Wild and Minnesota Wild’s personnel requirements and development initiatives as per the terms of their affiliation agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Wild prospects may spend the entire season as developmental assignments with the Heartlanders.
Since the team’s founding in 2021–2022 season, the Heartlanders have been associated with Minnesota. The American Hockey League’s Iowa Wild are Minnesota’s main development affiliate (AHL).

SAINT PAUL, Minnesota – A three-year extension of the Minnesota Wild’s ECHL affiliation arrangement with the Iowa Heartlanders was announced today by General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Bill Guerin. The Iowa Wild and Minnesota Wild will continue to use the Heartlanders as a resource for their personnel requirements and development initiatives as per the affiliation agreement. The deal permits the Heartlanders to assign Wild prospects to them for the duration of the season in order to foster their growth.
Since the 2021–22 season, when the team debuted, the Heartlanders have been associated with Minnesota. The Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) are Minnesota’s main development affiliate.
