Heartbreaking: Denver Broncos Star Player Suspended From All Sport Because Of Gambling
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado: When it came down to it, the Broncos defense delivered a huge win.
After going through a number of scrimmage-like scenarios, the Denver team worked on a high-stakes end-of-game scenario on Saturday during their training camp.
After preparing an end-of-half scenario the day before, Denver’s three lineups had a chance to attempt something late in the game. The Broncos defense also managed to produce big plays with 53 seconds left in the game, maintaining a 6-0 lead against an offense that began at the plus 44-yard line.
Cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian stated, “We just need to get a stop,” in reference to the defensive strategy. “We must submit. It is imperative that we ensure they do not enter the end zone.”
Jarrett Stidham seized the lead in the last-second situation on a day when he and Bo Nix each had the chance to practice with the starting offense. But Denver’s starting defense was swarming. The defense forced an incompletion to begin the drive, gained two would-be sacks, and won the game by deflecting a throw as time ran out, even though Stidham attempted a fourth-and-18 play to Marvin Mims Jr.
The defense forced two pass breaks in Nix’s attempt to lead the second-team offense, earning a fourth-and-two stop and capping another productive drive. Ultimately, despite a terrific 31-yard gain from Zach Wilson to Troy Franklin on a fourth-down throw attempt, the attempt was unsuccessful.
