Seattle Mariners avoid sweep with Mitch Haniger walk over…..
SEATTLE – On Thursday night, the Seattle Mariners overcame the Detroit Tigers 4-3 thanks to a game-winning three-run double by Mitch Haniger.
After Detroit had taken a 3-0 lead, Luke Raley hit a home run in the bottom of the sixth to put Seattle on the scoreboard. Raley then singled off Tyler Holton to start the ninth inning. After coming in to relieve, Will Vest (2-4) struck out the next two batters before giving up a single to Randy Arozarena.
Haniger launched a fly ball over Ryan Vilade, the right fielder for the Tigers, to give the Mariners the victory after Jorge Polanco walked to load the bases.
With a bases-loaded walk in the tenth inning to defeat the Phillies last Saturday, Haniger recorded his eighth walk-off of the season, a franchise record.
