Lions’ Dan Campbell Gives Shout-Out to Undrafted Rookie After
A reporter asked Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell to select one or two players that stuck out to him when he was watching from the sidelines during the team’s 14-3 preseason loss to the New York Giants. Without hesitation, Campbell brought up rookie wide receiver Isaiah Williams.
Williams appeared. At his news conference following the game, Campbell stated to the media, “He made some plays out there, and that was clear.” That was easy to observe. He carried out several excellent deeds that were evident.
Campbell’s commendation of Williams was noteworthy for two reasons. First off, it matters how much appreciation an undrafted rookie gets for his preseason performance.
However, Campbell hesitated multiple times when he thought of other Lions players who he felt performed well against the Giants, at least prior to watching the game tape.
