Alex Cobb trying to settle into groove as Guardians take on…..

Now that he’s completed his season debut, right-hander Alex Cobb can concentrate on attempting to support the Cleveland Guardians in carrying on their most recent winning streak.

When the Guardians play the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night, Cobb will be hoping to lead host Cleveland to a five-game winning streak and a three-game series sweep.

Cobb (0-1, 7.71 ERA), acquired from the San Francisco Giants at the trade deadline, started his first major league game of 2024 on Friday against the Minnesota Twins, throwing up five runs (four earned) and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Cobb has been rehabbing from surgery on his left hip and had not pitched since September 19, 2023.

Regarding his Friday performance, Cobb stated, “The stuff was fine throughout the game; it was the stuff and location combo that I was having trouble with.” “You need both of those to be sharp.”

Austin Hedges, catcher for Cleveland, thinks 36-year-old Cobb can improve on his debut with his new team, despite the outcome.

Hedges remarked, “There were lots of things to like.” His pitches are all so well-actioned. He has excellent control over the ball. On some excellent pitches, they made some solid swings. His pitching every five days is something to look forward to.”
