The All-Star third baseman will at last return to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced on MLB Network Radio on Friday that Max Muncy will make his Dodgers comeback on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners. After missing time due to a persistent oblique ailment since May 15, Muncy is now healed and prepared to rejoin the Dodgers.

For the Dodgers, who have struggled to generate offense from the hot corner since Muncy’s injury, this is a huge development. In 40 games this season, Muncy slashed.223/323./475 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs. The third baseman for the Dodgers has slashed.210/.293/.351 with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs in 77 games while he has been out.

In 44 games, Muncy finished with a 1.1 fWAR and a 117 wRC+. Since May 16, the third baseman for the Dodgers has a combined 84 wRC+ and 0.1 fWAR.

The defense of Los Angeles will be greatly aided by Muncy covering third base. With Tommy Edman joining the team next week, the Dodgers should be able to field a lineup similar to this one.
