Breaking: Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers named to watch lists, for….

Quinn Ewers, a redshirt junior quarterback from Texas, has received another preseason honor: he has been added to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list.

Quinn Ewers, a quarterback for Texas, was added to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list on Wednesday. Ewers has been considered for the award that honors the best senior or upperclassman quarterback expected to graduate with their class for the past two years.

Ewers was added to the Manning Award watch list on Thursday. The Manning Award, given by the Sugar Bowl, is given to the nation’s best collegiate quarterback after bowl performance is taken into consideration.

In 2023, Ewers made 12 starts out of a possible 14 games in his second season with the Longhorns. As he led Texas to a 12-2 record, he passed for 3,479 yards on 69% of his passes, 22 touchdowns, and just six interceptions.

On Wednesday, Quinn Ewers, the quarterback for Texas, was added to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list. For the second year running, Ewers has been considered for the award given to the best senior or upperclassman quarterback expected to graduate with their class.

Ewers was added on Thursday to the Manning Award watch list. The nation’s best collegiate quarterback, determined in part by bowl performance, receives the Manning Award, which is presented by the Sugar Bowl.

In his second season with the Longhorns in 2023, Ewers started 12 of a potential 14 games. Leading Texas to a 12-2 record, he completed 69% of his passes for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just six interceptions.

Ewers tied the program record for most 300-yard throwing games in a season with six of them.

Ewers, if he can stay healthy for the full season, may potentially cap off his Forty Acres career in a historic manner as he begins his third season as head coach Steve Sarkisian’s starting quarterback. FanDuel Sportsbook now lists Ewers as having the third-best chance to win the Heisman Trophy.
