(FOX 2) -The Lions advanced in the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit by trading for Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold with the 24th pick of the first round.

To advance, the Lions sent the Cowboys their 29th and 73rd picks in the third round. The selection was met with much applause in the Lions Draft room since it placed a strong emphasis on offensive players early in the first round, pushing some highly regarded defensive players farther on the board.

Arnold is the ideal pick because, as coach Dan Campbell told FOX 2, he offers both a love of football and sticky man coverage.

“We brought him in, and we met him with the Combine. Thus, with him, we had a lot of publicity,” Campbell said to FOX 2. “We thought he was great. We were genuinely surprised that he slipped as much as he did because we felt he was the finest corner in this class.”
