Report Red Sox Make A Bold Step To Sign White Sox MVP In A Blockbuster Trade
Even though the Chicago White Sox are in serious trouble, the team’s local broadcast team remains upbeat.
Prior to the Boston Red Sox game on Thursday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, John Schriffen of NBC Sports Chicago was optimistic that the White Sox would snap their 13-game losing run.
“I feel wonderful. The losing run ends tonight (Thursday),” Schriffen stated during the show. “There is fresh talent on the roster. The wind blowing out and Paul DeJong, who is among the new guys hoping for their first big league hit, might add to his tally on Thursday.
Tanner Houck continued to build on his Cy Young performance as the Red Sox went on to crush Chicago 14-2. As a result, the White Sox lost for the 14th time in a row, shattering a franchise record that had stood since 1924. Steve Stone, Schriffen’s broadcast partner, wasn’t put off by those feelings, though.
According to Awful Announcing, Stone stated, “You can put that 14 up there because it’s going to stay there because Garrett Crochett wins (Friday).” By the way, that’s how this series plays out. First game won by the Red Sox. When the White Sox win the second game, they won’t have to worry about games three and four because that is the player who will end it on Friday. It will remain at 14.
A bold assertion from Stone, but one that White Sox supporters undoubtedly also hope for in Friday’s game. On NESN, the second game of Boston and Chicago’s four-game series is set to begin at 8:10 p.m. ET with first pitch.
