ESPN REPORT: Providence commited To Seton Hall 120 Million Due To The….
The last, and most important, addition to Seton Hall basketball’s 2024–25 roster is in place.
On Friday, Providence’s 6-foot-5 guard Garwey Dual made his commitment to the Pirates.
With three more years of eligibility remaining, here are three things to know about the incoming sophomore.
Coming out of California, Dual’s size—which includes a lengthy wingspan—as well as his exceptional athleticism and explosiveness made him a unanimous four-star, top-50 recruit in the class of 2023. Together with guard Zion Harmon, wing Scotty Middleton, forward Prince Aligbe, and center Gus Yalden, he is the fifth former four-star prospect to pledge to the Hall as a transfer this offseason. Head coach Shaheen Holloway’s practice of bringing back excellent players who didn’t perform up to par at their previous stop—though Harmon was productive, albeit at a low major—is evidently consistent.
Ed Cooley had originally recruited Dual to Providence before he ran off to Georgetown. He was re-hired by Kim English, but the fit never seemed to be right. Mostly off the bench, Dual averaged 3.3 points and 1.9 assists in 18 minutes per game. He made 33 percent of his shots from the field,.250 of his 3-pointers, and.667 of his free throws. He did have an almost 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He performed better in half-court sets than in open court situations and had some promise as a defender who could stop the ball.
Dual shot 3-of-5 from the field, including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc, for an average of 3.5 points and 1.0 assists in 11.5 minutes over the course of two games versus Seton Hall. His two greatest Big East performances came at Butler (7 points, 2 assists, 3 steals) and St. John’s (7 points, 4 assists). In addition, he recorded four points, four rebounds, and two blocks in the Friars’ NIT first-round loss to Boston College.
